It is a very good towing motor. IMO, where it has not lived up to expectations/hype is in MPG. Not talking about the 2.7, but the 3.5 does not have a MPG advantage over the competitively powered V8s from Chevy and Dodge, towing or single.
I agree. I have 3 friends who have 3.5 liter Ecoboost F150's. Ironically, all 3 of them traded in older model 5.4 liter V8 F150's. All of them tell me that the Ecoboost averages 2-3 MPG better than their old 5.4's.
For new F150's, the Ecoboost is rated 1 MPG better than the 5.0 V8 according to the EPA.
Ecoboost V6's are great engines, but I just don't like the way they sound.
