Not to go off the topic, but I'm pleased with my real world mileage. Although, I didn't buy it for that. I have a four lane city commute to work and easily averaged 18 over the last 6 months. On days that I pay attention, I get 19.5 average. I do get the reported 21 when conditions are perfect.
I was very pleased on this last trip towing. 1100 miles from me to Wichita, KS averaged 12.1 mpg. For the entire 6,000 mile trip I averaged 11.5.
I've also been quite happy with the mpgs out of my 3.5 Ecoboost. 10% better than my 2010 Chevy 5.3; both have similar gears and 6 spd transmissions, too. I'll get 21 mpg on a speed limit freeway trip, and I get 17-18 on my usual 50/50 commute tank. Heck, the EB gets better mileage than my '06 Duramax did under similar conditions (towing excepted, of course).
And the EB will tow the wheels off the 5.3. The 5.3 is passable towing the TT in my sig, while the EB feels effortless (read: 6th gear, 1800 rpms).
