TQ will be how quick you reach that speed.
Dead wrong.
Horsepower will determine how fast you will reach top speed.
I have an engine with 2000 lbs of peak torque at 1000 rpm.
I have another engine that has 500 peak hp at 4000 rpm.
Which will get a 10,000 lb trailer 5 miles up a 6% grade first?
Oh, oh, oh, pick me, pick me. :B
The 2000 ft/lb of torque engine is only putting out 380 HP.
The 500 HP engine is putting out ......well.....500 hp :R......LOL.
Conclusion: All else being equal, the guy with the 500HP engine could drink a beer before the 2000 ft/lb engine would make it to the top of the hill. :B
