This pretty well sums it up for me.
Flattening the torque band into the lower rpms seems to be an advantage of a turbo in a gas engine as well.
Take a look at the torque curve on the new Cummins 800 ft lb motor. No longer flat and has a fairly sharp peak at about 1600 rpm.
