Ford 2.7 Ecoboost - power question

This looks like a great engine at 325HP.

That is about the same power as my trusty 5.9 Cummins ISB.

On edit: If each engine is in a 1 ton chassis and matched to it's proper transmission and rear axle ratio -

Towing at 23,000lbs GCWR the 2.7 Ecoboost will run right beside me up the "Ike Guantlet" then, right?

  • Check out the 2010 HD shootout at pickuptrucks.com. They towed the same 10k trailer with 2500 gas and diesels. The times were very close.

32-33 seconds up a 7% grade for the gas trucks, and 28-31 seconds for the diesels.

23-24 seconds towing 10k down the quarter mile for the gas trucks, 21-23 seconds for the diesels.

The gassers had lower axle ratios and more hp, the diesels had higher (numerically lower) axles and more tq.
