Ford 2019 F350 Satellite Antenna Relocation Complete
Our Hallmark Ute truck camper was blocking reception of our satellite antenna on the roof of the truck cab.
We bought a new antenna and cable from ford to mount on the passenger windshield cowling. The new installation works great.
Ford parts required... for our 2019 F-350 Crew Cab Lariat
Antenna: KC3Z - 10E893 - AA
Cable: HC3Z - 19A397 - A
The new antenna works well for both GPS and Sirius Satellite radio and the parts were around $70 from the dealer. Did not have to remove the radio.
To install....
1. Mount the new antenna on the passenger side windshield cowling with the hardware that comes on the new antenna. A couple of factory clips hold the cowling in place to lift cowling up to get access.. Drill hole in cowling. Mount the antenna.
2. Remount the cowling and route the little cable lead into the engine compartment. I dremeled a little notch in the front bottom of the cowling to get the cable to the engine compartment.
3. Take off all the factory mounting clips that came on the new cable and discard them as none of them are needed. Attach the new cable to the short lead that comes off the antenna
4. Next run the new cable thru the firewall via the rubber boot behind the fuse box. To help pull the cable thru you can take apart the end connector easily by removing the little retaining clip giving you just the smaller diameter cable to pull thru the boot without the big connector. You have to cut the extra rubber nipple on the boot to provide a spot for the cable to go thru. Not only do you need to cut off the nipple on the front side of the boot, you need to poke thru the backside of the boot as well (I used a very long 24" drill bit to poke thru the backside of the boot). This whole step is rather annoying.... but stick with it and you can get it done. The hard part is the &%$# fuse box is just inches in front of the boot limiting the space you have to work.
5. Laying on the cab floorboard.... hard to see because all the AC fan and air ducts are completely in the way, but find the cable you fished thru the firewall rubber boot. Finishing pulling the entire length of cable from the engine compartment into the cab.
6.Drop down the main glove box by removing the right side retainer and pushing in the 2 side clips on the glove box.
7. Next to the right side of stereo there is a cable coming off the radio with a yellow clip. That cable goes to the old roof antenna. Unplug and abandon the cable in place.
8. Route the newly pulled thru the firewall cable up to the stereo area and re-install the plug you took off in step 4 to get the cable thru the boot. Then plug the new cable into the yellow connector from step 7 above. Clean up the excess cable so that it does not hang down at the passengers feet. I tie-wrapped it up behind the glove box. You can not put any sharp bends in this cable.
9. Close up the glove box and re-attach the right side retainer.
10. I added a wire loam to the cable in the engine compartment and sealed-up the firewall rubber boot where the cable went thru with some RTD sealer.
Overall not too bad.... and everything works well. Getting the cable thru the boot was the hardest part. But remove the yellow connector and then you only need to pass the cable thru without the connector. Then re-install the end connector once the cable is thru the firewall.
