There is a big difference between the two valve 4.6L, the three valve 4.6L, or the four valve 4.6L. Which have you got?
I have the two valve and it isn't a good tow engine. It gets the job done but I have been on some grades were I could only run 35 mph in first gear.
ALL GAS ENGINES are designed to operate at high RPM. That high revving area is where they produce their power. Diesels operate at much lower RPM because that is where they produce power.
