Replace Air Filter in Triton V 10

Mine comes right off.....just replaced it in March. Mine has one band around the air filter lid. Snap that open and the lid lifts up to expose the filter.

Mine has 3 clips. Just got a return call from Camping World. The service tech was very familiar with this. He said to unclip, raise lid the 1/4 inch, push lid back (this releases the rear) and raisE up. I'll let everyone know if this works when I get back to the MH.

The 99 is different from the newer V-10s

It worked....still a real struggle.

I use to have 2000 V-10, now I've got a 2007 V-10. Totally different animals. If I remember this right, undo the 3 clip and then take off the upper hose that goes the engine. Now, I might be wrong.

My experience with family cars and pickup are that I can get about 20-25 thousand miles on a filter. The 2011 v10 I have needed a new filter every 8-10 mile. The motor home under hood aerodynamics apparently sucks up more road dirt than the typical family vehicle.

My Advance Auto clerk introduced me to A&N air filter ...more expensive but lifetime warranty with just a waterhose cleaning instead of replacement. Haven't bought it yet but waiting for comments from anyone who knows about A&N.

Are you sure that's not K&N? Red filter that you can clean and reuse? Ran the numbers looking at the cost of the cleanable K&N against a disposable paper filter and the recommended change interval. I think it turned out to be I will need to put 150,000 miles on the coach before I would see a cost savings of the cleanable filter over disposable. Considering my annual mileage the savings wouldn't be realized until year 23 or so after buying the filter. If I included the cost of the K&N cleaning kit it pushes the time line out even further. Needless to say I'm still using paper.

I have used the filter in my past daily driver with no issues. They work but for basic everyday driving not really worth the cost. Where the filters really come into play is off road recreational vehicles that get a lot of dust and dirt and will go thru filters quickly. Not something the average RV, commuter or grocery getter will experience.

Thank you...yes. K&N...your information is very helpful...this was along my line of thinking...haven't purchased it yet and will not....I'll go with the paper filter...many mixed reviews online about K&N. Thanks for your comment. Finally got the old filter out with "brute force"..lol

We have the same style air cleaner box on our 2013 Winnebago Adventurer. The main problem with removing the top is the way the body builder configures the house around the chassis. It takes all of 15 seconds to remove the top on our particular model. The body designers left plenty of room to remove and install it.

I've seen a number of post from people with different brands and models that are having the same problem you are experiencing. After reading some of the methods people have used to attempt removal I believe they are highly durable.
