I recently purchased a 2003 FORD F350 Diesel with a 6.0 , thinking it to be a 7.3 It has 119,000 miles on it ... is in pristine condition, inside & out , but I am scared of it , due to it's reputation. HERE IS MY QUESTION ...I am told that BULLET PROOFING it , with new EGR assembly , head bolts and other upgrades will LIKELY stop it from being my personal disaster ..... I would like to hear from anyone who ACTUALLY HAS owned one, and especially from those who HAVE paid the $4000 for the BULLET PROOFING process... and if it was really what it claims to be.Thank You .... We had a 2006 6.0 and after issues we had it "bullet proofed." The work Bullet Proof Diesel did held up well; however, the injectors did not. Our main issues with the truck were always injector related. We bought a new 2015 6.7 this summer after the 2006 had injector issues once again and left us stranded in Yellowstone. As fulltimers we MUST have a reliable truck.

I don't want to sound disrespectful here, but there are 2 main points in response to this post:1. Take your questions/concerns to another forum. You can you use the one suggested by spud1957 or select any other forum that pertains specifically to diesel trucks. I personally prefer www.powerstroke.org, but that's just me. You will be far better off to ask questions there vs. a RV forum.2. If you insist on using this forum to ask your questions like this, then please first use the "SEARCH" feature. Threads pertaining to the 6.0L PSD have been the most well-beaten horse that I've seen in my short time here. Usually, after MANY pages of pissing and moaning by haters and lovers, the OP isn't any better off than they were when they asked the question. As recently as the last few weeks, there was a long drawn out argument on this very topic.

Now we have thread police?? :R:RTo the OP...I do not have an answer first hand, but have read many GOOD posts on this forum with good results....I had an 05 6.0 that was trouble free... So not all were problematic ......

Richard,That truck has made it 119k miles without any problems so why would you want to tamper with it. If it was my truck, I would leave it as is and stick with only Motorcraft fuel and oil filters "only" and enjoy years of service. In addition to "only" use Motorcraft Gold coolant every 50k miles.Onto the bullet proof topic there is no such thing as "bullet proof"! Use after market fuel filters that allow water to get to the injectors and see how long they last or use after market oil filters that falls apart in the filter canister and clogs the high pressure oil lines or to a lesser degree allow oil to bypass the filter and not filter the oil.Since you've posted twice about the concern of your recently purchased truck, I would simply sell it and move on. It's not worth worrying about it. :W
