I've got a 2011 F250 with the 6.7 power stroke. I just purchased the vehicle but don't have a manual yet. In the mean time, can any of you tell me how to drain the DFCM? Is it as simple as turning the yellow valve? And just to make sure, it's located on the fuel filter..??No service records either - the truck has 32,000 miles on it so I changed the oil. No messages are telling me to change anything so that's all I changed. Should I also consider changing the fuel filter(s)? Thanks in advance,dvick

If you mean the fuel water removal trap that's under the driver's seat, then yes you just drain out some fuel into a container and look for water.

There's a petcock on the bottom, just loosen it up until fuel drips out. Look under the truck at the driver's door and you'll see it. Carry a plastic cup, a transparent measuring cup works well, and run some fuel into it when you are at the gas station filling up. I check it every couple of fills and haven't seen any water yet.

When you changed the oil did you reset the OLM puter? If not you should do so ASAP.

Best video ever. Just remember to unscrew the DFCM filter (diesel fuel conditioning module lower filter) out three turns before opening the drain otherwise it siphons your whole fuel tank out.

Ouch! With 40,000 miles I would strongly suggest changing fuel filters.

Mine told me to change my fuel filter last week as a matter of fact. Also said I should change oil soon.

:S Bad enough the DW has stuff for me all the time, and now my truck is bossing me around. :B

Don't know about the XLT models for sure but with the Lariat and KR models there is a message that pops up every time the truck wants service done. About the only thing I have done to mine (it has about 40,000 miles on it) aside from its three oil changes is I had the dealer check the coolant additive the second time that message came up.

Is your's a diesel? You haven't changed the fuel filters?

Just for help here, as I said earlier my 2011 does NOT show percentage for oil life.

It is King Ranch edition. So if there is a difference in displays between the various levels (XLT, Lariat, King Ranch) I surely do not know the answer there.

The difference is probably due to the model of the truck. The XL and XLT's have different instrument setups than the lariats etc.. do.

I would suspect you are correct about that. :) The important thing is to get it done.
