- blofgrenExplorerThe numbers stated by Ford are certainly impressive but we’ll see how they compare to the Ram and GM in the real world soon.....:B
And the internals on the Ford 6.7L are improved once again; must be about Job 14! :B - Bionic_ManExplorer

A little off topic, but I have to ask. When is enough going to be enough for everyone regarding towing in a class 3 truck? 40k, 50k, 60k? Mine was 30k, but I am wondering what ya'lls is.
I think today’s numbers are really nothing short of silly.
It is really hard for me to believe that a pick up truck can safely and comfortably pull 30,000 + pounds. That is WAY outside of any weight I would ever pull with one. ShinerBock wrote:

I would say 30k should be good enough, but I sure wouldn't complain having a truck that can pull a given load easier and being more enjoyable while doing it.- Edd505Explorer

You can probably get a reasonably equipped model in a crew cab 4wd configuration for mid-$40s. The extra $30k in options is...optional.
2015 purchased in 2017 $46K under 50,000 miles full equipped Lariat F350, CC/LB/FX4 sunroof, sliding rear window, heated cooled seats. :B - parker_roweExplorer

Now if you account for inflation, using the holy grail 1997 F350 compared to 2019, sure a new top of the line truck is way over a top of the line 97 (applicable to all models and trims), even accounting for inflation.
HOWEVER, the power and features of the old xlt Powerstroke are more akin to a xL base model gasser today. Even though the new truck blows the old one away in tech, features, safety and pretty much everything.
Add all the power and features of a new loaded diesel and it should cost waaay more, because it’s twice the truck!
Or it’s easier to bitsch about how great the olden days were. Sidecars grampa complained that a 1997 pickup cost as much as his farm too!
Well said! - Grit_dogNavigator IIThese new trucks are all monsters. And Dodge has always been behind in hp since they started turning up the wick about 10 years ago. But given the ridiculous numbers now, I wouldn’t even actually put hp in the top considerations for a new truck.
I would put the trans in it and Ram is now firmly s ucking hind teat currently. - ShinerBockExplorerA little off topic, but I have to ask. When is enough going to be enough for everyone regarding towing in a class 3 truck? 40k, 50k, 60k? Mine was 30k, but I am wondering what ya'lls is.
