It's the reactions to posts that gets threads closed down. Does anyone practice restraint or does everyone have their thoughts flowing unfiltered to their keyboards? Some of the responses look like hormonal imbalances or reflex actions with no thought behind them.
Ford bashers usually only come out when the Fish are bitting!
Just viewed the last 5 posts from this a$$ clown and 3 were bashing ford and 1 was marketing a ram.
Just so everyone knows....
Just viewed the last 5 posts from:
Blofgren had 3 ford bashing posts
flashman had 3 ford bashing posts
I suppose the ram mafia gets a free pass- BedlamModeratorAdvantages of the Ford over Ram:
1. XL seats are more comfortable for me with the lumbar adjustment than the Tradesman
2. Interior cab lighting is better in the XL than Tradesman
3. Ford's have flat load floors behind the front row seats
4. The controls and buttons in the Ford are larger allowing use with gloves
5. Ford's can have manual front locking hubs allowing you run low range on dry pavement
6. Ford offered dual tanks in the shorter wheelbase (2016 Ram's now offer it)
7. Ford offers the heavier Dana 130 axle
8. I would have chosen the Super Cab Ford but had to go to a Crew Cab Ram to get enough cab storage
9. The Ford center console allows carrying 8.5x11 paper sheets flat inside while the Ram is too small for US or metric paper sizes
10. Interior cab height is taller in the Ford allowing me to wear a hat when driving
11. Within 10 miles of my home are two good high volume commercial Ford dealers and one mediocre commercial Ram dealer - Bird_FreakExplorer II

How many miles do you suggest he waits before saying he has a Great truck? As I posted earlier my buddys 2015 already has 197K and has no problems other than regular upkeep.:h
is that possible in 2 years? Does he ever get out of the truck? - FlashmanExplorer II

The dealer where mycousin works as a diesel tech sells both Ford and Chrysler/ram products. The Ford shop has 2 diesel techs to the rams 3 diesel techs. Must be for a reason.
There it is... the family member with the Ram experience...
When you quote him it bypasses the ignore feature. Please don't quote him anymore. :(
But he makes me laugh. - BigToeExplorer

My current choice (Ram 5500) also had negatives that Ford (F-550) did not, but this purchase balanced the pros and and cons differently than the last time I was in the market
Bedlam... can you briefly describe the negatives about the truck you ended up choosing, that you did not find with the truck you compared it to?
I remember you put a lot of time in making the decision, and posted a lot about it back then also. But those posts were made before you bought the truck you chose. Now that you have a couple of years experience with your Ram, what do you consider it to be lacking, that you feel the Ford has covered? 1jeep wrote:

Yes it's possible... I used to see a couple of 6.7PSD with 350k-400k that ran as hot shot shotters delivering seismic data acquisition equipment and oil field equipment down to south and west Texasspoon059 wrote:

I would suggest you do some reading on the Powerstroke diesel forums. Yesterday I pulled up next to a F-550 garbage roll off container truck at a traffic light. I didn't pay much attention to the truck at first and judging by the noise it was making I assumed it was a 6.0L diesel. The light turned out to be especially long so I glanced over and was shocked to see it was a newer F-550 with a 6.7L diesel. When he took off the noise decreased but was definitely still there. It sounded like severe top end noise like lifters, etc.
I Googled the issue later and found out it is a very common issue that Ford considers normal. Buyer beware and this is coming from one that owned 3 Fords over the last 20 years including a 7.3L and 6.0L diesel.
iMO there are much better diesel options out there.
Wow! You must be an amazing mechanic. You identified an issue on a truck that you don't own based on noise you heard at a stop light. Let 6.7 PS owners answer the OP's question since we actually have everyday experience. BTW, I've owned both and I'm actually having less issues with my PS than I did with my Cummins.
LOL, you guys crack me up. I have a considerable amount of diesel engine experience both personally and professionally. I was one of the lucky ones who got to experience a Ford 6.0L diesel and let me tell you that one learns a lot about trying to prevent disasters and then dealing with repairs as they come up. Hence why you see the truck in my signature.
If you had heard the 6.7L Ford I spoke of in my original post and have ANY reasonable experience with diesel engines, you would have known there was something SERIOUSLY wrong with the truck. And it is not something that is going to go away. The 6.7L Ford is MUCH better than the 6.0L and 6.4L engines but it still has some flaws (some very serious) that the OP should know about.
I'm truly happy to hear that you're happy with your Ford; but given that it's a 2015 I would suggest that you give it some more time and mileage to state that it is a great truck.
I think the OP would be better off keeping the GM 8.1L quite honestly.
Wow!!!! Thats what an 18-20 month old truck ? If thats the case then that truck is being driven EVERYDAY between 320-360 miles. Around six hours EVERYDAY on the road. That buddy of yours is a busy guy . :B
