No apologist here. I just have better things to do than harp on something for 17 years. By the way, my truck still runs great so not all were bad.Bird Freak wrote:
How about that. All the same old Ford bashers jumped right back on the wagon.
Well the 6.0/6.4 bashing bandwagon has a lot of seats on it so....
Did you read the part about knowing the issues, citing the Class Action Lawsuit potential and trying to keep it quiet? Your good with that? If everyone that has issue with it is a Ford basher, than I guess being ok with it makes you a Ford apologist. There are seats on that bandwagon as well. - ksssExplorer

Ford deserves all the bashing they get from the 6.0 debacle from here to eternity.
Do you believe they should receive accolades?
I currently own 5 Ford vehicles so it is evident that I like Fords but in my experience their customer service is worse than useless. The last time I called them was about 3 years ago and all that they would tell me was to go back to my dealer. If my dealer was willing to fix the issues I wouldn't have been calling customer service. Fortunately the problems were minor so I decided to just live with them but every time they annoy me I think about Ford's customer service, or lack there of.
The 6.0 is still a drag on Ford's reputation and should have been fixed immediately. It wasn't like Ford didn't know how, International sold it as the VT365 and it had a great reputation although with probably a little more expense and a little less power.
Firestone's reputation still suffers from the failures they had with their first radials. I have seen studies that claim that other brands had just as many problems but had better customer service and did what it took to make the customers happy. Things like that can stick around for a surprisingly long time as Ford is learning again with this lawsuit 17 years after the defective product was sold. - LantleyNomad

- phillygExplorer IIMy diesel mechanic told me to keep my 6.0 and bullet-proof it when the head gaskets failed at 196,000 miles. He knows the 6.4 and 6.7s are more difficult and expensive to repair, and he loves his personal 2004 F350. So, I spent $10k rather than $60k plus for a newer truck.
- ksssExplorerThe payback for those in the original class action suit would be embarrassing, down to $50.00? I am sure the lawyers came out well on it though. This thing was a mess and apparently is still a turd that wont flush for FORD. Whoever gave the internal documents to the plaintiff, made the case for him. Whatever $ the guy ends up with, he should hand some to those people. Pretty hard to fight an argument that Ford didn't know the situation when their own internal documents mention keeping documents tight to avoid class action lawsuits. That becomes an omission of guilt, and a cover up. I bet that it will be significant award for the plantiff.
- GrooverExplorer IIIt was pretty incriminating to Ford when they sued Navistar for damages due to the engine problems but refused to help their own customers.
- N-TroubleExplorerI wonder what the plaintiff is driving these days? Brand new PS would be my guess.
No props to Ford, but that Kool-aid runs deep with a lot of their customers. - theoldwizard1Explorer II

6.4 not 6.7. 6.7 Ford went it on their own
