Another potential issue with the year for your truck is the UVC harness connector working loose. I had that happen on my 2001. There is a connector fix for it and I think it was sometime late in 2001 or 2002 that new UVC harnesses with new connectors were introduced. The original connectors did not have a locking wedge robust enough to ensure over time with the heat and vibrations that they would not come loose. What happens is the connector under the valve cover starts to work loose and causes all sorts of injector firing issues that will only get worse and at some point result in a no start at all condition. About a year ago I had to replace both mine when one went bad and since it's a MAJOR JOB to do stuff like that on a VAN I just bit the bullet and did both sides since I had the top of the engine torn apart and things like the seats removed for access. If you have some one do the none PCM type injector BUZZ tests, etc. that might tell you more if this could be your issue or just get the connector fix from international and install it and take that possibility out of the loop. I think on an F-series that is a fairly easy and straight forward job since removing the valve covers is not the CHORE it is on a Van.
Here are the part numbers that I have on both the complete harness and the connector kit ... You should do some research to confirm there accuracy since this info is from a doc I had saved and might not be current ...
