Just an update...I decided to replace the CPS after doing some more research and talking to the parts guy at my local Ford dealership. When I told him the symptons he was very sure that it was the CPS (along with many many others)
$27 dollars, Ford part. I replaced it in the driveway in about 15 minutes. I then went to the local fairgrounds to pick up the Eagle which is now out of winter storage, got it home and set up in the back yard.
Truck ran great...like usual. So hopefully the CPS replacement did the job.
