Ford Diesel 6.0 really that bad?

The 6.0 PSD is inferior to the V10 and almost every other HD motor ever made when you look at warrenty cost Ford paid on this motor. That's simple a fact, Ford paid over a BILLION dollars in warrenty repairs on the 6.0 PSD. That is a fact that many do not see. They are good trucks when the issues are addressed and hundreds of thousands are still on the road...I see them out there every day... But the facts are simply to hard to ignore... Stock for stock nearly every other HD motor produced....ever...was more reliable...with very few exceptions.

Now that said the 6.0 does have a lot going for it.

* The transmission is FANTASTIC
* The bottom end of the motor is very strong and reliable...rarely is there an issue with the lower end
* We are no longer dealing with trucks under warrenty and the issues with the 6.0 are well known and fixes exist

Many run the 6.0 with little to no problems... They maintain them and and keep an eye on temps. For some it's worth the risk to get a very nice truck 5-10k cheaper than a Duramax or a Cummins... For others, they will not approach a 6.0 with a 10 ft pole...

You just have to decide which side of the fence you are on.
