I think it's a mistake to kill off all the cars. Killing the Taurus and perhaps the Focus, keeping the Fusion, or just keeping the Focus I think would be wise.
I remember when Ford thought the best idea was to kill the Ranger, and now look at the market they handed over to GM/Toyota, that they decided they might want to compete again.
At some point in the future, the market will likely change, and offering nothing in the sedan segment might prove to be foolish. But then again Honda can't sell the Accord and it's supposed to be a great vehicle by all accounts.
Ford quit selling any sedan I was interested in years ago, so I've shopped elsewhere last time I purchased, and ended up in an Infiniti. And now Infiniti doesn't sell any manual transmissions so next sedan will have to be something else.
