In addition to our truck, we also have an Explorer, and a Fusion. The Fusion was purchased as a "commuter" car to avoid putting as many miles on my Explorer, since we can't exactly take the truck into downtown Denver, and it gets better gas mileage for when my husband plays in hockey tournaments all over the metro area.
But, that being said, as a mid-30's female with no kids, just dogs, I prefer my Explorer. I drive it to work every day even though the Fusion sits in the driveway at home (husband works from home). I feel safe in it, whereas in the Fusion, I have way more close calls from people who don't see me, and it's harder for me to see too. My mother also prefers riding in the Explorer, the Fusion sits low to the ground. We'll probably eventually ditch the Fusion for an F-150, or maybe, that new Ranger.
When I lived in the city, I had an Escape.
