I had a 99.5 4X4 F-350, 4 door, 8 ft bed with the 7.3L. I had 2 dealers call me every few months wanting to know if I'd sell it. They each had a list of people who were looking for a truck with the 7.3L. People are still looking for that engine.
As others have said it doesn't have the power the current engines have but it has plenty. It's easily programmed to turn up the horses that it does have and make that engine really pull. It's a good, hard working, very dependable engine. Local dealer said they see a number of those still on the road with 500,000 miles on them and they've only had the oil change and regular maintenance.
I really regret selling mine but the body started showing a bit of rust and paint problems so decided to sell it while it still had a good value to it.
