Been looking at getting the factory towing mirrors since I first considered buying an F150. Pricing on the aftermarket copies is down in the $200-250 range. My TT is a "narrow" version and the standard truck mirrors work to see pretty much straight down the TT sides. BUT being able to see more is always better ;)Anyways, being too lazy to run out to a Ford dealer right now, anybody with a 2019 F150 with towing mirrors care to measure the mirror sizes and distance from the window for me, please?

That means taller & wider, and the ability to telescope. Also, much noisier if you buy the cheap aftermarket ones. The Ford ones are stupid expensive, but I have heard good things about 1AAuto.com, so you may try there. In my opinion, they are worth the extra coin and wind noise.

I am a bit disappointed with mine. The passenger side main mirror is not convex so it has a surprisingly small field of view. The wide mirror below it is so convex that most things are too small. The mirrors themselves are huge so they catch a lot of wind and are view obstructions. I would like to try a truck with the standard mirrors for comparison but I am not going to trade trucks anyway so there is no real point in doing that.

I love love love my 2018 F-150 towing mirrors. Would never get an F-150 without them. They are one of the reasons I ordered my truck.

You're required in several states to have extension mirrors while towing. I have bolt on attachments for my F150. Need to look into getting the extending mirrors put on the truck.

I think Ford has the best towing mirrors. My Donkey ear mirrors are as functional but they look kind of stupid.

Yes. That is exactly correct. We towed 300 miles today, am always very thankful to have them. They are 10 times better. Than standard mirrors. I don’t understand why Ford doesn’t make them standard with the Max Trailering package. Just a reminder, wind noise (at least on my aftermarket ones) is bad. I’ve heard better things about the 1A Auto ones.

Manley, thanks so much for the pics and details. It seems the standard mirrors are similar size to the towing mirror tops. Big gain is the large convex bottom mirror and the width gain both before and after extension.

I’d give you some photos, if this archaic forum wasn’t such a pain in the rear to post pictures. :S

The top part of the tow mirror is slightly larger than the oem mirrors, about 2” wider, and maybe an inch taller. The convex mirror is about 4x10”. The extension adds about 3-4” from the retracted position, which is already about 4” wider than original equipment.

Hope this helps. Recommendation: buy them. You won’t be disappointed.

Edit: OK, read the whole AAA article. Many states define you have to be able see to down the road at least 200 feet with your mirrors but it never says behind a towed vehicle or trailer. Most say if you can't see behind you with an interior mirror, you must have exterior mirrors left and right.

Main mirror size, convex mirror size. Outside edge of mirror retracted & extended. From that I can figure anything else.

Don't know if it's legal and don't care. Haven't seen the reverse video camera cops on patrol anywhere but on rvnet, lol.
Back to mirrors....I tow trailers of many shapes and sizes with different trucks and having real towing mirrors is a great convienence and a worthy upgrade if you're considering it.
