Ford F 150

Looking at 2017 F150 XLT Super Crew with the 3.5 V6 GTDI Eco Boost and new 10 speed. It looks like it can tow and has the payload for our 30' Heritage Glen with dry weight of 6400 and 7500 with gear, water, propane etc... I have never had Ford before but I know they receive great reviews. Do you think there would be issues pulling with a V6- especially up hills? The GCWR is 16,100 with a 3.55 axle ratio. Anyone with experience who can share would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • You will have no trouble with power. The engine is the closest you will get to low rpm diesel torque in a half ton, especially up hills!

I am at about that weight (a bit lighter) and 5' shorter. I don't question my setup, but do realize I am at the limits of the half ton platform. Mind you, engine is not in question, the weight of the truck may be (even more so with your extra length).
  • cccougar - What are you pulling your 30' Heritage Glen with now?
  • Does it have the Max Tow package and LT tires?
Crew cab - how many people are you carrying?
    What's the yellow-sticker payload?

The F150 in my sig has a 1486# payload (steel body), 3.55 gears, and "P" tires. I'm actually 200# over on the rear axle with just my wife and I in it. Stability and power are surprising good, but the next truck will be a F250.
  • A 30 foot TT behind a 150 anything is certainally opening you up for some unpleasant trips. The huge sail you call a TT can move even the biggest of trucks around in the right situation. Personally I would get a 2500 gas motor for the added stability, stiffer springs, better tires, etc.
