My town car right now gets 19-20 mpg. If I can get a newer truck with comparable MPG I would be happy. I can't handle small cars. I have tried and feel like in in a tin box. Plus paying payments on a truck and a fuel efficient car is false economy IMHO.
Good point about making two payments....one on a truck and another on a fuel efficient car...to save money on fuel.
Who says you have to have to take out a loan for a fuel efficient vehicle? Have people stopped taking cash?
Again.. false economy...
We're just trying to help since it sounded like cost was a major concern.
It all depends on what you set your parameters to. My new (used) DD costs $100 less per month for payments and gas than only the gas my truck used, but I've always felt comfortable in smaller cars. We're looking at either renting a truck for a TV when we need it, or buying an inexpensive dedicated TV since we don't go camping much right now.
If you can find a tow capable midsize SUV that gets 25 MPG, you could be ahead too.
But in the end car buying is mostly emotional, and you've got to like what you're driving. Good luck on the search! :C
