Have you ever towed with any of the current base pickup V6s or that 97 Cobra? The Cobra weighs far less than a crew cab pickup empty, let alone towing any weight or unaerodynamic RV, even a popup.
Ford's 3.7L makes 102 ft-lb of peak torque less than the 5.0L at similar 4000-ish rpm. That means far more time at what most (not all) people find more comfortable 2000rpm instead of 4000rpm when towing.
