It only loses 5 HP, and torque stays the same. At least that's what happened in the Mustang. I don't think anyone will notice 5 HP, and they can probably even make it feel the same though better power management (i.e. reduce the alternator during WOT, or other tricks they've already done with the hybrids).
Actually it loses around 20 horsepower (305 down to around 285). I really cannot understand this, except for the idea that maybe they could squeeze out a 1 mpg improvement by doing this. Everyone seems quick to say that less horsepower is needed due to the 700 lb weight loss, but that is a crazy answer because they did not reduce the horsepower in the 3.5 Ecoboost or the 5.0 V8.
