Ford F150 3.7 L V6
I may be looking at one of these trucks. In a super crew 2 wheel drive configuration. It has 3.73 rear axle ratio. And a tow rating around 6000 pounds. This little motor has more power than my 97 F150 had, It gets much better gas mileage. And for my 20 to 30,000 mile per year commute it should be a great choice.
Does anyone have any experience with the F150 and a 3.7 L V6 configuration? The most we will ever tow is probably 4000 pounds worth pop up something like that.
The first car my wife and I bought after we got married was a 94 Pontiac Trans Am. That " hot Rod" only had 265 hp! It's hard for me to believe I'm considering a P6 truck and it's got over 300 hp, and it's naturally aspirated!
I know for towing heavy it's all about torque. My 97 at 330 foot-pounds torque. While this 3.7 later only has about 285 295 some like that.
The reason I'm looking at the 3.7. Is because we are going to have to buy used and in the 2011 2012 model years I'm finding XLT's in the super crew with the 3.7 L V6 in the teens. the EcoBoost and the 5.0 L are running at least five Thousand more dollars. And I know I will get a lot more power but at the expense of fuel economy and initial price. As far as getting a larger camper... Been there and done that.... We want smaller and more efficient.
So anyway long winded post. Has anybody have any experience with the 3.7 L V6 especially in a crew cab configuration?
Thanks!
Jeremiah
