If current trends continue here in PA, land of the highest fuel taxes on the planet, I doubt any of the half ton trucks with small diesels are going to be big sellers.......I drove past Pilot yesterday and diesel was 3.75/9 at 1:00PM, came back past at 1:30PM and the big digital numbers up in the clouds were at 3.81/9. As a comparison reg unleaded gas is at $3.03/9. I think this is the year those prices don't start heading south right away after the holiday. I base that on the price of steel used in our business, which is and has been on a steady upswing. Those prices typically stay neck and neck with fuel prices, and our brokers tell us to not expect a downward or even a stabilizing trend with metal for a few years. My thoughts are these fuel prices are here to stay for awhile. The upside is the RV Industry is going to get their clock cleaning industry slowdown if these prices hold and that may equate to some resemblance of quality assurance.....but I doubt it lol.
