I am looking into purchasing a new Ford F250 with the 6.2 liter gas engine and 373 gears. Does anyone have any experience with this motor? It has only been around 4 years. I currently tow a 6000 lbs TT with a 2006 F150 5.4 liter, does the job on level roads but struggles against the wind or up hills.

I have had a 2011 F250 with 3:73 and 6.2 and current 2014 with the same towing 8000lb TT and handles the trailer effortlessly. Would recommend without hesitation.

See if you can find one with the 4.30's, it will make towing easier.

After towing with the 5.4, you would be in for a real treat, towing with the 6.2, with 6-speed. Both the engine, and transmission, will be a huge upgrade! I made the same change myself.Good luck,Jerry

I have a 34 foot gooseneck horse trailer with living quarters that weighs 14,000 lbs that I pull with a 2013 F350 Dually CC with 6.2 engine and 4.30 rear end. Truck pulls this trailer with no problems - traded a 2006 6.0PSD F250 for the 6.2 gas engine with no regrets - I pulled the above trailer with both trucks and both pulled it equally well- you just have to learn to keep the gas engine in the higher rpm ranges. I had to order my F350 DRW as I wanted a 2wd with 4.30 gears with a gas engine - odds of finding that combination on a dealer lot is slim to none. If you're not ever going to tow a heavier trailer than what you have now, the 3.73 gears should be fine. The 4.30 gears are awesome and only hurt the mpg about 1 mpg. I believe you will be very impressed with the 6.2 engine, especially over the 5.4 - I won't be surprised if the mpg is higher with the 6.2 over the 5.4. Good luck.

My buddy just did it. Night and day between the 6.2 and 5.4. You will love it.

Toving FW 10000 lb 10 mg no proplem and I used to have a 7.3 disel.

A coworker got tired of diesels and bought a new F250 4X4 crew cab 6.2 gas in 2013 and thinks it is the best thing since hollow point ammunition.

Probably is a lot of difference between 5.4 and 6.2. I towed a 4000 TT with 6.8 V10 and 4.10 rear axle. Sure wouldn't want to go smaller going up hill. Like mentioned I would go with the 6.2 and the 4.3 rear axle. It would be my choice if I towed a TT again. If you are planning just towing on flat land and no hills the 6.2 and 3.73 would probably be fine.
