Yep. The 3.7 will handle either of those loads, no problem. I've noticed the 2013's are a little more rev-happy than the 2011's FYI.
I drove a 5.0 F150 HD the other day. That engine is SWEET.

And of course, the usual suspects appear to suggest a 250 or 350. What a joke, I daily drive a 350 (for the past 7 years), and unless you want one for the macho factor, they are not nearly as nice to drive (lousy handling, poorer braking, gas hogs...) as even an HD F150.
You could comfortable tow a 4000# trailer with a Nissan Frontier....

All good responses for your trailer. But if the truck isn't the daily driver, and you want to tow without hardly knowing it's back there get an F250 with the 6.2. One good reason is the payload. Even with a 4K trailer, plus pasengers you could eat up the payload of the 150 quickly, depending on the trim and configuration. So if you're a light packer, either engine in a 150 will handle it, but if you want to take everything but the kitchen sink and not worry about it, get the 250. I love mine. Love driving it, even around town. I get 13.6 MPG's combined driving, 16.2 on the highway empty, and 10.5 towing the 7K TT. Good luck.

For what you are doing, and if you want to stick with the F150, the 5.0 is the way to go. Much better mileage than the 6.2. Less than 10% of F150 owners get the 6.2, must be a reason for that. If you're going to go heavier, then get the F250 with the 6.2 because the 5.0 isn't available there. If you go F150 and are getting the Lariat trim, the EcoBoost is only a $700 option. If you're sticking with the XLT or FX4, its much more.

X2 Loved my 2006 5.4L (3 valve), lots of smooth power throughout the band and decent mileage even towing. Our new (to us), C has the 6.8L V-10 and that thing IS a beast! :B

The new 5.0 is one heck of a motor.....and there is a ton of potential left in it.

IF the 5.0 is much better than mu 5.4. It must be a BEAST. The 5.4 is a bullet proof, strong as a hoss motor. I just grin as I pass the 2500 GMs going up the hill with our TTS. Honestly. If it was any stronger. It would jerk the trailer out from under the camper.

However. IF I was buying new. I would go with the 6.2.

My company truck is a 2013 4x4 with the 5.0 with 3.73 gears. It handles the loads I pull (4000-7000) quite handily. I get an average of 18-18.5 running empty and from 9-12 towing, depending on the weight in tow. I am very happy with this truck

Interesting, your 6.2 numbers are much better than ours. In town, 11ish, highway, 14ish and towing averages 8.5. Numbers could certainly be better but still love the truck.

I get better numbers then you on my 6.8L V-10. I get 12 around town mixed driving and have more torque too. Your numbers are lower than most are reporting.

You should also consider the 3.5L EB. It may be the perfect motor for your situation.
