Ford has an answer to the Power Wagon

That is not the first thing I think of with that term. I more associate it with earthquake. But that does not matter. We could make a pretty big list of "dumb" automobile names if we wanted to. And this is not the first time Ford has used the name. It has been around for quit awhile.

Because one has to be a total moron to take a new truck serious offroading given what they cost. I've known more than one idiot who has done so one time in the woods here, then cried like a stuck pig when he found all the scratches in the clearcoat were not able to be buffed out.

The Tremor does come with a locking rear and limited slip up front. Is the Power Wagon's rear better in some way?

The Power Wagon does have some cool stuff for serious off roading but in that 14 years I have only seen about two of them. Unless they are selling much better in other parts of the country Ford isn't missing out on much of the market. And the Raptor is a serious competitor for pure off road use which is about the only good use for a Power Wagon with its soft suspension. As I said, the Tremor might be good balance some people, probably those that work off road. But it still needs a winch.

In serious off roading there are situations that you do not want your differential to lock.

Therefore the only to go is with selective lockers.

I far prefer my TrueTrac differentials to lockers.

Besides being 14 years too late, big tires and an inch of lift do not a Power Wagon make. Without the lockers and integrated winch, this is not a competitor to the Power Wagon, Rubicon, or TRD Toyotas. Anyone who has used a vehicle off road with lockers would immediately recognize that this feature alone is way more important than a slight amount of ground clearance and tires. I really wish selectable lockers were available on all pickup trucks. Given the state of the technology, it's very strange to me that they are not offered.

While it does not have all the off road goodies of the Power Wagon, the best part of that truck is the fact that it can be had with a diesel. Something that I wish was an option on the Power Wagon. I would trade my truck in and buy one tomorrow if they did.

Yeah, a big diesel is too heavy for serious off roading, but I could still use many of the off road features of the Wagon with the towing power of the Cummins on the farm or at the lease.
