I know nothing about this particular engine, but I can tell you that on VW, Jeep, and BMW diesels, if the high pressure pump fails, the manufacturer requires replacing everything that the fuel touches, lines, tanks, filters, the works. And the costs do run between 10 and 15 grand, depending.
There are folks who will do it for less, the $3,800 figure somebody up the thread quoted being a "replace the pump and injectors, flush the lines and tank and PRAY" solution. These three manufacturers say that it is impossible to clean those items adequately, that no matter how the cleaning is done, enough fine metal particles will remain and will in due course destroy the new pump and injectors.
