These are the reasons a really smart diesel tech will not own a newer diesel. I used to be a Dodge (Cummins) tech. those engines didn`t have any issues. the other 2, D max and Powerstroke had their issues pop up in the early 2000`s. Cummins had minimal issues in early 2010, but nothing compared to the other 2. which is why the Cummins is such a smart buy!
OP, hope you can get it fixed reasonably. good luck! I would make a few calls into Ford and see what they will do for you!
cummins had serious issues from 07.5... DPF, EGR, turbo soot clogging problems. Many deleted their trucks to eliminate the emissions plagued design in turn to loose their warranty. Yep smart buy alright.
BTW... Cummins 5.0 in the new Nissan uses a CP4.2
Well that didn`t take long Fishy! I only seen a handful of that issue. no where near what the other 2 had! like I said minimal issues! I`ll take a soot problem over a $10k plus dollar repair any day! and the soot problem could be eliminated by not putting around in an empty truck to and from the grocery store!
