I notice that a very large number of the people who post here tow with some sort of Ford product. I'm wondering if they are that much better than Dodge Rams or other hefty vehicles. What is it about...

Hmm, must have had something wrong with your 5.4 or you had the wrong axle ratio. Mine (a 97 5.4 btw) pulled my 31.5 ft, 7700 lb travel trailer all over Tennessee with never a problem. Pulled at 60-65 no problems.
