I had two 2000 Fords, an E350 and an Excursion that both had the 7.3 engine in them and they were great trucks. However, after 2008 when I brought them to the local Ford Truck Service Center and seeing all of the trucks with the cabs jacked off of the frame, I got spooked. The dealership said that pulling the cab was necessary for turbo replacement, injector work, etc. Looked at a new 2015 Ram 2500 with a 6.7 Cummins and they told me that the engine comes out of the front if it has to be replaced, no pulling the cab. I ended up buying the Ram and it's the best truck I've ever owned. It has a really comfortable cab, drives like a dream and the only repair in 41,000 miles has been a recall replacement of the Catalytic chamber in the exhaust system and it was no charge. Also, don't let the "no DEF" remarks scare you off. Other than when towing, mine sips DEF and I dump a jug in about every 3000 miles. Also, unless it's doing a regen, there's absolutely no diesel odor of any kind. I'm getting about 14-17 mpg in town and about 19-21 mpg highway. I'd buy another Ram in a heartbeat.
