The blend door for 03's are electric. They can fail in either position. Right now mine is broken in the cold position. This is the 3rd one. It may well be the last. These are cheap parts with plastic gears and it's not if- but when because they will fail.
Many times people will tire of replacing them and simply unplug- as they make an annoying clicking sound as they search for position.
I don't know if you've owned your tv since new or not but if not, it may be unplugged.
The part number in your original post is for a blend door.
NOT saying it can't be an expansion valve.....

Actually it does sound like you have a plugged orifice tube. I had that happen after I had body work done. They obviously didn't cap the tubes while it was all apart.

If the blend door vacuum actuator fails it defaults to full heat usually.

Did you have the same symptoms as I do? My front ac is cold but the rear isn't in the summer. This year we had a cold summer so didn't have many opportunities to try it but one day I sat with the truck idling and even the front ac got warm eventually but once I started driving it cooled down but I had it on it's highest setting. The rear heat works in the winter albeit it takes awhile to get warm though. I was wondering if it can also be the orifice tube or the TXV (thermal expansion valve) that I read in forums that also affect the performance of the ac system.

That place among others that advertise it do not have it in stock and can't order it from Ford. I called them to verify.

If I couldn't get new I was going to hit the salvage yards but I don't think it is something that they maintain a database of it they have it car-part.com I was going to check and call yards with at least rear ac components and by the whole assembly then take the part off (hoping it works)

I ended up just converting mine to manual cable-control, using a chock cable kit. This way I can have rear A/C and front defrost.

Those are notorious for breaking- the plastic-yes plastic gears will break teeth occasionally. I've replaced 2 so far on my 03 Expy. Junkyards are a source also.
