I'll never stop driving an ICE vehicle.

The Lightning, shares a lot of exterior sheetmetal and interior trim and components with its ICE F150 counterparts. An already familiar "face" in the marketplace. Pricing for now isn't too insane given current market conditions. It may do well in the suburban grocery getter/Home Depot weekend warrior segment. But that enormous touchscreen dangling off the dash.....ugh! Auto dimming or not, how annoying are those things at night?
If it’s anything like a Tesla it goes to a night mode. Changes the presentation accordingly, not just the brightness. It’s pretty easy to live with. Certainly no worse than analog gauges.
Re sharing F150 components. The danger of that is the test drive. Most test driving an electric right after a gas version won’t even look at the gasser unless they have some special needs like long range towing or whatever. Of course that could work to their advantage as far as price etc.
Jmho.- 2oldmanExplorer IILightening the load on their manufacturing.

For those that missed out...
I have a limited number of reservations. I might be willing to share my good fortune.. Obviously some details would need to be worked out.:B:R
:p
I see a potential problem here. If numerous people made multiple reservations with the intention of selling their spots in line rather than actually buying the truck, then Ford may be manufacturing too many vehicles.
I see commercials on television for the Silverado electric truck which will be delivered more than a year away. The fine print says the dealer will determine the cost of the vehicle. I'm guessing there is a good profit motive for a manufacturer to take a deposit to hold a customer's place in line. It makes the buyer commit and dissuades him from considering other product during the interim, vehicles that could be available for immediate purchase. Plus, the manufacturer gets all the buzz that their vehicle is so popular because they have all those preorders. I wouldn't be surprised if the marketing departments are fudging the preorder numbers. - LantleyNomad

So people here think Ford's production capacity is unlimited? Even in a normal year without supply problems they can only make so many.
Frankly this is a WIN for the "Let the market decide" crowd. Not the outcome you were hoping for, but still a win. The market has decided. The market wants electric vehicles.
Good point
If the roll out of EV F-150's is smooth without lots of issues then their popularity will grow quickly.
If there are lots of growing pains and head scratching EV's popularity will stall.
It's easy to look at Tesla and try to mimick what they are doing.
Actually converting a legacy ICE maker to EV is far more challenging! - mkirschNomad IISo people here think Ford's production capacity is unlimited? Even in a normal year without supply problems they can only make so many.
