The new 6.7 Ford diesel is completely different than the 6.0 you have now. Plenty of power, reliable. Only real issue with it is the high pressure fuel pump. Its made by Bosch, and it doesn't like water in the fuel. Same unit that Chevy uses on their diesel.
I also had an 05 Ford 6.0 diesel, and although I didn't have too many expenses with it, I opted to get rid of it after selling my 5ver and moving to smaller.
Make sure you get the 6.7, and not the 6.4 interim engine that was used for a couple of years.
