I went from an '07 F350 6.0 to a '12 F350 6.7. The '07 was near trouble free. The '12 has been completely trouble free. I thought the '07 6.0 had a lot of power until I got the '12 6.7. Amazing how much more power it has.
I would also look for leftover new 2014 F350s. They will be willing to deal to get them off their lots. I got my 2012 at the end of the model year for $14,000 off sticker, basically invoice minus Ford factory rebates at the time.
