Ford V-10 update

First let me say thanks for the people who answered my questions on V-10 clutch, mods and durability.

I bought the project truck as an alternative to my newer Diesel. So far I've replaced the clutch, plugs and coils (could have changed the boots and would have been fine) and something I had not planed on heater core. I still have a small seat repair and windshield to fix.

I bought this as a winter project and have less money in it then what a friend paid in taxes on his new top of line GMC truck.

Always thought the regular length, E 350 van with the V10 was an excellent platform for towing. Even considered getting one a number of years ago.

Nice to hear!! I agree it is doing very well. I am at my weight limit, but it does well at this limit. To OP interested in your project!! I'll support the interest in pics!! Always love to see what people are doing.

Love the V-10 also!! My 2000 is running well, just changed the plugs (1st time), and all cylinders are in line again, they only just slowed down at end of this past season, with over 150,000 miles. The engine could go another 150,000, the rest I have to keep up on, but still much cheaper than new, but still have my wish list for sometime in future. Till then keep my V-10!! Best buy I've made in vehicles!! Sad they have discontinued the full size E-350 van

  • When complete we would love to see some photos. The V-10 is a great motor, I love mine wih the 4.10 rear gear. It offers the perfect amount of off the line pull and cruising speed comfort
  • Enjoy! I love mine, on my second one now. Got this one in Aug. it's 2008 with 430 rear, my old one had 373 rear, and it did the job just fine. I was barraged with,"why didn't you get a Diesel'? Questions, fact is it took a year to find a good V-10 replacement. Found lots of Diesels but not many V-10's.
Anyhow, I'm off subject Good luck with your Truck! Just remember to let it rev to make power!
  • Not surprising. I miss my V10 Excursion. Good luck with your project.
  • Great report! I am glad it's working out for you. The V10 is nearly as reliable as an anvil.
