Ford V10 engine light

Today traveling thru LA and Az in the 65 mph winds and dust my cruise
went off and check engine light came on for a second or so three times
also lost power for a second or so each time. This was during a dust storm where you could only see a 100 yards in front of you. Did I suck dust in my air cleaner or ??

Guess he didn't pass any of those semi's laid over on their side.
    There were several of them.

  • I would be parked for a couple of days unless it is very urgent to move the RV. Probably got a little dust into the electric heating element that measures the air flow. Not much to worry about, unless you have to drive more in the dust.

Of course check your air filter. IT can also happen in very heavy rains, getting a little to much moister on the flow sensor.

I would not attempt to 'clean it' as anything you spray on it might also damage it. Air flow across it will clean it dry, the engine is like a vacuum cleaner - cleaning it all the time.

If your air filter is really dirty, then I would try to 'shake it out' and then put it back, replace it when you can get near a auto parts store. Yes it can be vacuumed too. But don't run the engine without it.

    Good luck,

    Fred.
