- RwaSmithExplorerWe have a Forrest River Vibe.
After we picked up the TT there were some issues. But after contacting FR they invited us to the factory (2 hours away) and pulled 2 guys off the line to fix our issues and gave us a factory tour.
We have been very happy with FR and will purchase another one some day.
You can find an issue with every brand that is made on this forum somewhere. Remember its a traveling house. You will have to fix some stuff. - RickmaddamsExplorerThanks for the input, I didn't know the series of events. I currently have a 32' Jayco and I am happy with it, would easily recommend. It's longer than I need at this point, and it's a 2003,looking for something newer and shorter. My research has assured me that the Evo might be the right choice.
- Jpbeck1ExplorerForest river has the same floor plans as Jayco, as they were acquired by them years ago. Now almost everything is owned by THOR.
Forest River is a respectable company, but for whatever reason were purchased years ago by Jayco, another respectable family owned company... but we're also bought out by THOR. So that's the history there. I always knew THOR for its truck campers, that were top notch. But I've heard otherwise by some.
The bottom line is most of the manufacturers are owned by the same parent company now so... look closely at the rig, and go based off what you observe.
There are differences in quality from what they call entry level and advanced. Look at the construction of the cabinets and the components they put in the unit. It will give you an idea of how it's built. Look for saw dust in the cabinets, it will tell you about the attention to detail. Look at the matress and the cushions. Crawl under the rig and look around at the welds, at the pluming, etc.
We've been shoping so much for a new rv, that they all are starting to look the same. Good luck. - NanciLExplorer III would never recommend Forest River.
We are in a new one that we bought in October and it has been nothing but a head ache.
There workmanship is horrendous, and I could fill a page with all of the things that had to be fixed.
Jack L - RickmaddamsExplorerThanks! I'm assuming then that you would recommend them?
- handye9Explorer IIHere's a link to Forest River's website. As you will see, they build a lot of RV's. If you look at floor plans of their other brands, you'll probably see, they have the same floor plans under several brand names. They have been in business for a long time. I am currently on my second travel trailer, I had a truck camper, and I have two cargo trailers, all built by them.
The key to RV longevity, is not who built it, but, how it is maintained. They all will have minor issues here and there. They all will have serious issues, if not maintained properly.
