Forest River, Flagstaff Lite

My DD & SIL are looking ;) at a new Forest River, Flagstaff Lite.
Model FLT25FKS. They will be towing with a Ford Excursion. They have rented like TTs in the past. So they know what they are getting into as far as TT camping. Maintaining and up keep will be a new experiance. Any owners out there have a checklist that would help?

They love the floor plan and are more than ready to "Pull the trigger".

I'm asking you TT guys, what do you think?

Anything they should be looking out for? :E

Thanks Grampa Wayne
  • Pre delivery inspection is vital. Test ALL systems, electrical, propane, plumbing, etc. and do not sign on the dotted line until ALL issues are addressed.

i have been reading alot of bad reviews about forest river products.

And you can also read a lot of bad reviews on Keystone products, Heartland products, Winnebago products, Grand Design products, Northwood products, Any of them, you name it.

It's more about concentrating on the one particular unit you're considering purchasing. and not the two or three others sitting beside it on the dealers lot that are exactly the same, built on the same line the same day, and slapped together by the same Amish hacks. One of those 3 or 4 could be perfect or close to it, the other ones absolute garbage.

IMO the OP's daughter can do a lot worse than choosing Forest Rivers Rockwood / Flagstaff products. They're typically solid rigs and they have great support at the factory level after the sale. Not all Forest River divisions do. They tend to operate as separate entities in that regard.
  • I had a Rockwood for 11 years. Had a couple of issues with it but in general a very good trailer. As Ralph Cramden stated look over the one you are interested in very good and don't worry about the others.

We missed a couple of things on our new Grand Design at the PDI/didn't document them well and now getting push back from the dealer. Some things just happened on maiden voyage and have been taken care of.

Go over everything and take pictures, document, document and document again. We found a big chip in the burner cover that was covered by the grates when cleaning it last day of maiden voyage. Dealer didn't come right out and say we did it because it wasn't documented but hinted very strongly at it. Just like the fine scratches in the counter that they agreed to buff out but didn't. Guess he should have come to my house and looked at our 26 year old kitchen counter that only has a couple of scratches.

Done with my rant now. Rockwood's are a solid trailer and can't go wrong with one in IMHO. Just didn't find a floorplan/decor that we liked as much as the Grand Design unit.
  • We looked at Forest River, 2013 Solera, Class C. Purchasing from private party here in Phoenix area. Wondering about quality. We are first time RV buyers. Great price and nice layout but we hear a lot of negative reviews. Should the inspection be done at RV dealership or by myself? How do we properly inspect an RV before we buy one? Thank you for any input.

Hire an independent RV tech if you are not comfortable doing it yourself.
