As said, FR bulds a LOT of RV's. More than anyone else as a matter of fact.
And Forest River has a lot going for it! Some RV builders brag about quality, but FR does something about it.
Warren Buffet is the $136 billion guy that bought Forest River and turned it into the Giant RV Builder it is today. $1.6 billion in sales, 60 plants, 5,400 employees and building countless quality RV's. Warren is obviousily a terrific business man a well. The hands-off billionaire shuns computers, leaves his managers alone, yet has notched huge returns. He just turned 75.
In addition Peter Lieg the founder of FR stayed on as the CEO...but a CEO with virtually unlimited money from Mr. Buffet...and as with all of Warrens Management Team Members, Warren hand picks them because of their Independent management style..Warren trusts them and will touch bases with them only a few times a year!
With Forest River, Quality shot up, the Forest River Company florished and quality, ammenities, standard name brand equipment and customer service all under went a transformation. For example they got serious about QC. Built a 20,000 sq ft Pre-Delivery Inspection Facility just for quality assurance. The bare essentials for a premium product.
These state-of-the-art facilitys give immediate daily feedback to production for quality assurance in every unit built. The folks who actually build the RV's meet with and examine newly built units, with upper management too. Audits are ruthless and everyone is involved. After all Warren is a real whip cracker kind of guy!
Are they perfect...not as long as imperfect humans build them..but they are pretty darn good! I've had 7 new Jayco's and loved them all..but I certainly wouldn't be afraid to try a new Forest River RV!
