Nothing has changed...and finding a truck camper for a particular truck isn't any more harder now or in the '60s when I bought my first TC.
Simply stay under any trucks axle/tire load ratings for safety reasons.
I've also had several different insurance companies and non had a over weight exclusion....even my commercial insurance when I pulled heavy trailers.
Drunk or over weight or speeding or aggressive or just a stupid operator your insurance company pays.
