I once watched a woman pull a 2 ton + car a half a mile, what does that mean?
I had a pickup, that I had owned for six months, that was rated to tow 6000 lbs. With that in mind I purchased a Hybrid camper with a 3500 lbs. dry weight.
Everyting was well within specs.
I towed that camper 150 miles out and back on a short camping trip.
After that trip, I traded in my (much loved) pickup to upgrade to a more powerful vehicle. I did so because the wind, trucks passing, etc. made "the tail wag the dog". Yes, I did have a WDH and a sway bar. That effect alone made me feel it was unsafe for my family.
So, in reality, you can do what you want but it could leave you in a very costly pickle.
