Fresh Water sensor

I just took my new 2017 Vibe out for the first time. I noticed that according to the sensors the fresh water level never went down over the 4 days of camping. The grey and Black water levels rose during the same time. Could they have installed the sensor backwards?
  • Not so much backwards but they could have wired the sensors wrong.
  • The sensors are usually 4 to 5 screw like fittings mounted through the side of the tank and sealed with wires attached to them at incrementally higher levels on the tank. Two are usually at the bottom. One for the lowest level the other to complete the circuit back to the panel for all the other sensors. Being that your trailer is new and the sensors are not acting correctly they may be improperly wired. However, these type of tank sensors are notorious for not working correctly especially on the black and grey tanks when crud starts to build up on the contacts or the ones on the fresh water tank start corroding.
  • My guess is wires are not connected to proper pole at tank. While the fresh water indicators are not really accurate, they generally work.

Just another thought...it takes quite a bit of water use, before you see tank indicator go to the next level from full.

  • 1. try to trace the wires to the sensor, maybe one grounded .

    2. could be the display itself. check ground at panel.

does it read empty when the tank is drained ?
  • Thanks everyone for your comments. The sensor does read empty when I drain the fresh water tank.
  • I’m going to take a quick look to see if there is a grounding issue. If not it’s going back to the dealer for warranty repair.
