I always remove mine when backing up into my drive or a campsite. I have made it a point to keep it loose until I get near the interstate or a road when I might really need it. Last week my final destination was up a mountain with a lot of curves. I pulled over and removed it. I try to only use it when I am hitting the interstate. Just trying to save some wear and tear on it....
