I found a little time this afternoon, so I pulled the fridge out. I have a cooler that with a 1x10 laying on top of it is the perfect height to slide the fridge out on to it.
I pulled the baffle out, and it is in good shape. I had read a tip that a cleaning brush for a shotgun works for cleaning the flue. I have a 20 ga, so that worked, but a 12 ga brush would be a better size. I had to run it up and down putting pressure on differing sides of the pipe since it was not a snug fit. Not that much rust came out. I reinserted the baffle and checked the height above the burner. I now have it maybe 1-3/4" to 1-7/8" above the burner vs. the 1-5/8" that is spec'd.
While I had the fridge out, I vacuumed around it really good, and vacuumed and blew out the cooling fins at the top back of the unit. Everything is now reinstalled. It was much easier than I anticipated.
I went to Home Depot late afternoon and picked up a couple things I need to make a manometer. Checking the gas pressure is the next thing I want to do. Maybe tomorrow.
Since I have a good flame, and the flue and baffle are in good shape, about the only thing left is gas pressure.
There's one thing for sure, working on these things yourself is the best education you can get about how the different systems work!
