I had the same issue with my 2002 F350, I ended up buying a used truck bed from a 2006 year with same color and the bed came from Texas with 0 rust on it. Yea I paid $1200 (DRW) for it, but I am now set for a long time.
Doing those frame mounts is not an easy job, I started doing it and gave up as you have to have the right tools to do it so it will last.
