Gotta love it. Proof posted of B pillar-less design being comparable to a B pillar design in crashworthiness, and the response is about brand loyalty/blinders and a shift to A pillar complaints. Have you ever considered a career in politics?
Well you might want to go take a look at what safercar.gov is using for the side impact test. It is a low riding sled, so I stand by my assertion that a club cab (Ram) or super cab (Ford) and even The GM twins club cab are not as safe as a true Crew cab with a B pillar that is part of the vehicle and not just a beefed up side support that the clam shell doors have.
Had they tested them using a sled that truly represented a full size pick up the ratings would not be 5 star! Those doors do not have a true B Pillar as it is not part of the body structure. The top and bottom latches will not keep the door from folding right in IF hit be a high riding vehicle.
That is why I never bought one of those trucks. I have seen frist hand at accident scenes how they hold up, or better yet do not hold up!
Don
That's ok Don, you can go with your gut, I'll go by actual controlled testing with repeatable results. Judging based on what you've seen in accidents leaves wayyyy too many variables. I agree NHSTA should increase the size of their side impact sled. - Perrysburg_DodgExplorer

Have to say they look nice all but this one!
God help you if you get t-boned in that truck! All to save what 10# for the B-pillar? Dumb very very dumb! Wounder what CR and the IIHS thinks of this one?
Before anyone jumps on my back stop and think, would you want your family inside that truck? A car hitting it won't be to much of an issue. But if your t-boned by another pickup it is going to come right inside that passenger compartment and no matter how many side air bags it has, they won't help you!
As for the hips they look a lot nicer then the ones they are running right now. Still not a fan of the front ends, the one thing I like is they cut back on the number of "SUPER DUTY" badges by 3 lol. All kidding aside it looks like a very nice truck!
Don
Don, I can't believe you are involved in the auto industry. Work for a manufacturer, and would make a stupid statement like this?
I think its been proven the Ford truck is "every" bit as safe, if not more so than the FCA truck! - HannibalExplorer

Will these all-new Ford SRW trucks start coming with 11.5" rear axles to match GM and Dodge?
The AAM rear end in the Ram was the biggest reason I was anxious to go back to a Ford. Both the Hemi and Cummins powered 2500HD's didn't make it to 100k miles before needing a rebuild. The Sterling rear end in the F250 has been solid so far. The other reason was those little dried out ball joints up front on those spindly little upper control arms. The ancient design twin I-beam has also been solid so far.
I've never had an issue with AAM1150s on my trucks and they get put through the ringer. Are you sure it was the AAM1150 as until recently that was never fitted to gasoline Dodges.
Both the '03 Cummins and '05 Hemi powered 2500HD's were 10.5" AAM's. Pulled the same 10,040 lb 5th wheel with both 67~mph. A lot! - FordloverExplorer

My first graf was completely on topic to the question you asked. Turning this ad hominem speaks poorly as to your character but to answer your question, no, I have not as I'm too busy with my contracting firm. Have a good one.
Oh no need to turn this personal. I was simply disagreeing with your blanket statement that B pillarless vehicles are far from safe. I then posted evidence to debunk your claim. I was just attempting to correct what I saw as an untruth, not insult you in any way.
I personally have zero interest in B-pillarless vehicles, but declaring them all unsafe because GM had trouble designing without the pillar is irresponsible IMO. Congrats on the contracting firm, hope you enjoy strong growth, profits, and job satisfaction. Cheers. - transferredExplorer

lack of b-pillar is far from new and also far from safe for both side impact and rollovers. one of the reasons dumped their old extended cabs for my11.
Do you have any evidence to back up that claim? Safecar.gov does, and when comparing the 2011 F-150 extended cab vs. the 2011 Ram quad cab, the both earned the same 5 star side impact rating, though the Ram (with a B-pillar) did have a note on the side impact testing, that they excluded from the 5 star rating.
So basically, if you dumped a 2011 Ford for a 2011 Ram, you actually took a step back in side impact safety.:W
Yes, Chevy engineers spoke about it in their press releases and detroit presentation when they replaced the EC with the DC. I was talking about GM trucks hence my 2011 reference when they made their major change. If it doesn't pertain to Ford then it doesn't pertain to Ford.
RE Ford, I own a 2006 (plus had a 2008 450 PU bought new) and love it. But I don't have blue oval blinkers on and the A-pillars have been week as hell for the last 16 years so I'm hoping the new ones are a big improvement.
