The flue gases will contain CO2. If CO2 builds up and runs through the burner it forms CO. If I had to do it, I would definitely have a window wide open. I would not trust my life to a cheap CO or low oxygen detector.

You would be correct, I have not investigated the Wave heater specifically. So let me ask you this, is it unvented as in the flue gases spill directly into the conditioned space? If so, do the flue gases contain C02?
